Our clients found a wonderful sloped site with good solar exposure and a view of the White Mountains, and came to us to design a warm, comfortable, energy efficient home for their family to enjoy for the long term.
This home is based on passive solar design principles and is built using SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) This method ensures a well-insulated air-tight building envelope without laborious quality control measures. The home has R-20, foundation walls, R-40 walls, R-50 roofs and features an efficient ground source heat pump system. An ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator) ensures a continuous supply of fresh air and the slate tile (over concrete) floor offers enough thermal mass to keep it cool in the summer. Local, low-toxin materials were used throughout.
