Mount Dessert Island Residence
LEED Platinum - Net Zero Residence
Working closely with the client, Landscape Architect and energy consultants, a modern, extremely energy efficient, sustainable home was created that the owners can enjoy for many years to come. The floor, wall and roof assemblies were created to minimize heat-loss and air infiltration (yielding an impressive 1.3 ACH50). The windows are triple glazed and the mechanical systems include solar photo-voltaic panels, solar hot water, and a super efficient air-to-water heat pump. This home features many local products and materials, FSC-certified wood, Energy Star compliant appliances, efficient light fixtures and low-flow plumbing fixtures. During construction close attention was given to minimize impact on the forest and reduce waste.
